Last night, the class had the ‘Dinner in the Desert’, an event setup by the Fuqua staff to take us out in to the desert in 4×4 vehicles then have dinner at ‘tiki hut’ type of place. This was actually the second time I had dinner in the desert (link 1, link 2), but I’m pleased to say that last night’s facilities and dinner was much better than the first trip. The free drinks didn’t hurt!
The one thing we didn’t do last night was ‘dune bashing’ or sand boarding again, but that was fine with me. Of course, our driver thought it be funny to drive like a jerk anyway, as we pleaded for him to stop it. Having 6 guys jammed in a Land Cruiser, not so conducive to a pleasant experience! At least give us helmets if you’re going to do that…
The event had several interesting cultural events, from hookah/shisha pipes, to henna tattooing (see my cobra, left) to belly dancing. I was able to film quite a bit of the belly dancing by various Fuqua students and staff. I’ll edit it together when I get home, but in the meantime, anyone who knows that they really don’t want to be in the video, please let me know.
After the barbeque dinner, quite a few of us went out to various clubs in the city. Tried to get into Bar 360, to little avail. Most of us ended up at Barista, which was a beachfront bar with a pool. It was great to be outside breathing some fresh air!
One more day of class left, and then it’s time to go home. I’m quite ready to get out of here, although I’ll be spending another day here after the residency to just chill out. Although I can’t wait to get home, not looking forward to the 16 hours it’s going to take to do it!
