Class Elections – What an amazing set of candidates!

The ballot for the Duke Cross Continent MBA Class Representative positions was released today, and all I can say is that it is an honor to be nominated as part of such an amazing group of classmates. When Maria told me I had been nominated for all three positions, in the back of my mind I wondered if that was a good thing or punishment in the eyes of my peers!  All kidding aside, after seeing my fellow classmates and their statements, there’s no doubt that these nominations reflect highly upon those who received them.

Here are the positions, along with the number of candidates:

  • Class Representative – 3 people  - Works to improve the overall experience of our classmates in the program, acting as a liaison between the students, staff, and faculty.
  • Curriculum Advisor – 1 person –  Represents the Cross Continent MBA program during curriculum review meetings.  Works with faculty and other Fuqua MBA programs to monitor the state of current curricula, as well as make suggestions for future improvement.
  • Judicial Board Representative – 2 people – Serves on the Judicial Board for Honor Code violations as needed (hopefully never!)

I opted to run for the position of “Class Representative/Liaison”, of which there are 11 candidates.  That gives me a 27% chance of being elected, all things being equal.  For the Curriculum Advisor position, there are 3 candidates for this single position, and for the Judicial Board Representative position there are 6 candidates for the two positions.

When it comes down to it, no matter who gets elected, Shashank said it best as part of his Statement of Interest:

What if I don’t make it?  I will still be happy.  For I will have another story to tell:  how I lost, but we won!

Good luck everybody!
