It’s hard to believe that it’s already time to start planning for Dubai! This week, I booked my flight, which looks like it has the potential to really hurt. First flight gets me to D.C., then from D.C. to Dubai will take nearly 13 hours. Repeat on the way home. Round-trip, I’ll spend 30 hours in the air and fly 14,500 miles in 10 days.
With approximately two weeks until finals, time is starting to become more and more of an issue. I’ve caught up on all the readings in Managerial Effectiveness, which really helps. Hopefully by the end of this weekend I can read the final two cases, and start on my final case study. If so, that just leaves me with…
Accounting. To be honest, I’m really starting to enjoy Accounting! The last team assignment really got me moving, tying together all of the concepts. While reading 80 pages of Consolidated Financial Statements and Notes was tedious, and finding the answers was hard fought, I think I’m in much better shape in terms of the material than before the assignment. Admittedly, I still need to review the material covered during the residency, all 10 chapters worth. But at least it’s getting somewhat easier to study, given that the material is gradually getting tougher.
Outside the classroom, this week starts the nominating process for three class representative positions: Class Liaisons to Faculty/Staff (3), Judicial Board members (2), and Curriculum Committee Representative (1). On Tuesday, September 29th, the nominees get announced, and after that there’s a bit of lobbying and then a final vote October 6th-12th. I’m more interested in seeing the tally of nominees than who actually gets picked. Other than the residency, most of my interaction has been with my team (which I suspect is the same for most of us). So the nomination process essentially boils down to who’s been active in classes, who met the most people in residency, Facebook…and dare I say, blog writing?
Have a good weekend everyone, “see” you in class tomorrow!
