I’m usually not one to do personal New Year’s resolutions, for any number of reasons. Mostly, I don’t like to admit that I’ve got things to work on! There’s also the logical side of me that realizes that 1) there’s nothing special about the turning of the new year to make the resolution stick and 2) I’m not really good at following through on things anyway.
But since we’re about 1/3rd of the way through the program at this point, and for most of us there won’t be any carry-over of classes/work into 2011, I figured it was worth writing up a set of Duke-related resolutions. I’ll start off with mine, please everyone feel free to jump in with your resolutions and I’ll add them to this post!
Note: No soft resolutions to ‘love yourself more’, or to ‘be a better person’. Do that on your own time ;)
General
I resolve to…
- …learn everyone’s name, industry and general country location before Shanghai.
Residency
I resolve to…
- …actually do the pre-reading before the residency!
- …attend every single class and guest speaker.
- …party less and/or find more cultural activities for my evenings.
Distance
I resolve to…
- …do the assignments before the last minute.
- …do the optional readings.
Blog
I resolve to…
- …double the number of authors, posts, unique visitors and page views per week.
- …coordinate to have the incoming CCMBA 2011 class have a separate blog.
- …add at least one more class besides CCMBA 2011 and merge all of these blogs into one coherent website.

Sounds like a plan!

Hey AJ, thanks for stopping by! How are your MBA preparations going? Any thoughts about applying to Duke?

I really love Dukes program and MIT. They are my favorite schools. I am not sure if I will get in though. My scores are high enough. I may have to reapply in a couple of years depending on how this cycle goes. Yes, I bombed one of my interviews. I have to work on those interview skills too. It is rough not being a nontrad and trying to show how I fit into the business world.

Good work Randy!
Look forward to reading posts by contributors from around the world.
One Duke related resolution for me (even though I decided not to apply to Duke) is to reach out and make more friends with Duke students. The school and the people are amazing and its been a privilege interacting with all you guys!
Cheers and have a great new year! Look forward to seeing you in Delhi.

2009 Resolution: Make resolutions in 2010.
2010 Resolution: Make resolutions in 2011, compensate for not making resolutions in 2010 by making more in 2011.
That’s pretty much what I go through every year.
