I just received an email about a new show on TLC called ‘Family Armor’, starring a Fuqua CCMBA Alumnus!
Jason Forston (CCMBA ‘09) is about to star in a TLC reality show called Family Armor. His company upfits limos and other vehicles to be bullet/bomb proof with a smattering of Bond-like gadgets.
I’m especially amused that when Jason started at Duke, finance and consulting were the sexy jobs. His work seemed a bit déclassé, but when the smoked cleared (um, literally), he’s the guy who ended up with a tv show!
The funny thing is, this is exactly the type of show I love watching! If I could limit my cable package to just Discovery, TLC, BBC America (Top Gear) and FLN (Three Sheets), I think my wife and I could probably get by. From the Duggars, to Mythbusters, to Little People Big World, weird engineering shows and ‘crazy medical procedures’ Sunday, there’s really no room for any other entertainment.
Yeah, I could read a book, but I’d rather watch cars blow up. Watch the trailer to see some real-life ‘terrorist movie’ stuff.
Oh yeah, did I also mention they are Mormon? Jackpot! This show has all the makings of a reality show hit…

Don’t really want to comment on a blog which has “blowing stuff up” as a tag, might get my application for a visa for the 6th term rejected by the U.S consulate but… I want to see this show. If it’s worth it, I will be displaying this to everyone in my family saying “This is what a Duke MBA gets to do”.

Ha! If I’m not mistaken, you also comment on Ian’s post tagged with ‘russian prostitute’, so you’re on a downward spiral my friend!

I don’t think “they” will care about me commenting on a post with Russian prostitutes tagged. Blowing stuff up is a bit more concern raising :)

This is great! Truly out of the box thinking!

Jason really is a great guy, I actually have traded a few emails with him about the show.
I need to check if it’s on this week, with the Thanksgiving holiday in the U.S. Usually, TLC and the Discovery Channel run marathons of their shows, since they expect people will be spending time with their families instead of glued to the television.
Of course, you can very easily watch explosions with your family too, they aren’t mutually exclusive!
